Legacy Trail Group Ride

This summer, as we finish up the Rockies, we're planning a group ride for anyone to join. There's no fee, just show up and ride with us! This ride is completely free and requires no registration! However, there will be a waiver to sign as this is an organized event.

The Who

The Legacy Trail links the towns of Banff and Canmore. With a distance of 26.8km it's an easy ride for all abilities and ages. It's an estimated 2 - 3 hour round trip with 181m of elevation for those having to return to a vehicle. For those just riding from Canmore to Banff it will only be 19km and roughly 44m of elevation.

The What

Touring bike, road bike, mountain bike, recumbent, unicycle, tandem, e-bike - heck, even roller blades - We don't care what you use! If it's got wheels, you're in!

The Where

We will be meeting at the Cascade Ponds parking lot and riding 18.5km of the Legacy Trail to the Travel Alberta Canmore Visitor Information Centre. We will have to ride through the Trans Canada Hwy / Banff Ave Interchange (under the highway) to gain access to the Legacy Trail via the Trans Canada onramp from Banff Ave. We'll make sure we have some traffic control to keep everyone safe, especially the kiddos!

The When

The new date for the group ride is tentatively set for June 11, 2022. We will be departing the Cascade Ponds parking lot no later than 3pm. This leaves plenty of time for anyone making the round trip back to their vehicle in Banff. This also gives Karley and I plenty of time to get to Banff, as we will be riding an additional 60km in from Lake Louise prior to the group ride.

The Why

Our goal is to raise awareness for Crohn's and Colitis. Whether you yourself suffer from either or want to support a friend or family member, even if you can't donate but would like to show your support, come ride with us. This is also a great opportunity for us to get together and connect others who may be suffering on their own.

The How

We understand that it's a bit of a trek from Edmonton but if you can get yourself there, we'd really love to have you participate and help us raise awareness for Crohn's and Colitis!

We might be able to line up a shuttle for those looking to park in Canmore and ride back to their vehicle but there's no guarantee of that at this point. With that said, if you have a vehicle capable of shuttling people and bikes, please let me know! The same goes for anyone that may have extra space for those wishing to go but are unable to get themselves there from Edmonton.
